Marketing ROI calculation is no different than this basic ‘cost accounting’ scenario. You know that you will have to spend something to get something. But the challenge is not necessarily in the estimating – its really in the tracking back to see if what you did gave a result.
For example, you attend a trade show for $1,000 investment and you get 100 leads – that cost you $10/ lead. Now, if you get 1 sale from that, you actually spent $1,000 to acquire a customer. Basic right? But not easy to derive without the systems in place.
